Check it out!Take a trip down memory lane: Camp Sandy Hill videos on YouTube: A Message From Chief Tim Nielsen:As an alumni camper or staff member of Camp Sandy Cove, Camp Sandy Hill, or Hilltop Ranch, you know the value and importance of your experience at camp. Perhaps you began your relationship with Christ at one of our camps, or maybe you dedicated your life to full-time Christian service while enjoying the warmth of summer. If you are anything like me, your time at camp was an integral part of your development as a believer. You not only heard the Word of God, but you saw it lived out in the staff around you. In addition, you were challenged to live a life focused on the Lord. You were forever changed by your time at camp!
We have lost contact with you and you may have lost contact with dear camp friends. Please join our Alumni Association by completing the form below. As a member of our Alumni Association you will receive biannual updates concerning the growth and effectiveness of Camp Sandy Cove and The Marsh (a day camp at Sandy Cove). You will also be informed of development efforts for the growth and future of our camping programs.
Our Past, Present, and FutureOur camping ministry began in 1950 on the Sandy Cove property in North East, MD. During our years of ministry we have served over 100,000 campers between Camp Sandy Cove, Camp Sandy Hill, Hilltop Ranch in Maryland, Camp Sandy Cove in the Poconos, and The Marsh, a day camp at Sandy Cove. Many of these children have committed their lives to Christ through this powerful and effective ministry.
We are experiencing a need for tremendous growth in the area of children's camping ministries. During our last 7 summers in the Poconos, we turned away hundreds of children. In 2003 alone, 300 children applied after we had filled our camp for the summer! The solution for our need to grow was not as easy as one might expect. The camp in the Poconos is owned by the State of Pennsylvania and they have no interest in selling the camp or expanding its' capacity. We determined that the solution to our challenge was to purchase a new camp.
On October 7, 2003 the President and Chairman of the Board of Sandy Cove Ministries signed an agreement to purchase a camp for Sandy Cove in High View, WV. This camp allows us to serve more than three times the number of campers that we served in the Poconos.
Now we face a few new challenges. First, we will be searching for as many as 200 campers per week to fill our new camp. Please pray the Lord will provide the children who need to hear the message of salvation found in Him. Pray that we will reach 200 kids each week in the summer of 2012! Our second major challenge is to raise the money to provide scholarship assistance to needy families and make improvements to the new camp facility. For the summer of 2011 we realized and exceeded our goal of raising $60,000 in scholarship assistance. Summer 2012 will bring in even more requests and a greater need. The average scholarship need is $256. Will you help impact a child and make a donation to Project 256 – Camp Sandy Cove Scholarship Fund? We are so thankful for the generous giving that has enabled us to purchase our facility in West Virginia. As we move ahead we are aware of physical improvements and new buildings that will be necessary to allow for growth. We hope that you will join us in the effort to fund the growth that will allow us to reach more children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in making a donation now using your credit card, please click here. If you would like to receive more information about the new camp and a donor information packet, please contact me at t.nielsen@sandycove.org. Join with us as we shape the future camping programs of Sandy Cove Ministries. Chief Tim Nielsen
